Axel Hofmann
Prof. Hofmann is a Doctor of Medical Science and holds a master’s degree in Economics. He is a visiting professor at the Institute of Anesthesiology at the University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland, an adjunct associate professor at the Medical School and Division of Surgery, The University of Western Australia, Crawley, Australia and an Adjunct Professor at the School of Health Sciences and Graduate Studies, Curtin University, Perth, Australia.
With his background in health economics and outcomes research, he has specialized in the field of Patient Blood Management (PBM). His main activity is the implementation of PBM programs in the public health sector and in large hospital systems. Prof. Hofmann is a founding member of the Society for the Advancement of Blood Management (SABM) and a co-founder of the International Foundation for Patient Blood Management (IFPBM) where he serves as a board member. He is also a member of the Austrian Society for Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Reanimation.

Aryeh Shander
M.D., FCCM, FCCP, FASA is Emeritus Chair, Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Pain Management and Hyperbaric Medicine at Englewood Hospital & Medical Center in Englewood, NJ. He is also Adjunct Clinical Professor, Department of Anesthesiology, Medicine and Surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai as well as Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in NJ.
He is the Executive Medical Director of The Institute for Patient Blood Management and Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at Englewood Hospital, and Past -President of the Society for the Advancement of Blood Management. He serves as the director for education for TeamHealth. Dr. Shander lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of topics related to anesthesiology, critical care medicine, and patient blood management and his publications have appeared in several prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals.
